I am deeply committed to understanding and addressing the connection between the mind and body. My expertise lies in clinical psychology and I have over 25 years of experience working with adult individuals, couples and families.
My journey into psychology was mainly inspired by a desire to understand and alleviate human suffering. As a result, I find great fulfillment helping my patients experience life satisfaction and new meaning by the end of therapy. As a clinical psychologist, I assisted individuals with chronic medical conditions that impact emotional and cognitive functioning, leading me to adopt a holistic approach to treatment.
I use evidence-based interventions proven to be effective to the specific diagnosis and level of severity impacting overall functioning. Cognitive Behavioral therapy it is successful with patients suffering with mood disorders and anxiety disorders; PE (Prolonged Exposure) is an empirically proven intervention for Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder; Attachment Based therapy or Emotion-Focused therapy might be a better fit for challenging relationships while Dialectical Behavioral therapy had been found effective for personality disorders.
Over the years I gained expertise working with military personnel and their families. I attended training from the Department of Defense (San Antonio, TX) on PTSD, TBI -Traumatic Brain Injury and Depression and Military Culture, Families and Deployment.
I want all my patients to feel that they are valued, and I make sure I provide a safe environment in which they can move through their challenges to discover more fulfilling lives and to reach this goal I tailor my interventions according to the unique skills and personality endowment of each person.
